Project: Top Secret - The Facts
- The Reno Air Races attracts a crowd of over two hundred thousand spectators over a
five-day period. Additionally, your aircraft will appear at a number of prestigious avi-
ation events both in the USA and Australia and New Zealand and will make attempts
to break numerous Australian speed and altitude records.
- The project so far has been the subject of considerable media exposure on TV, radio
and the print media. The Discovery Channel has indicated interest in filming the proj-
ect for inclusion in its “Extreme Machines” program, which has an audience in excess
of 10 million viewers world-wide.
- Construction of the aircraft, a modified Glasair Super III, is nearing completion at
Bankstown Airport. The project is being undertaken by two aviation engineers
experienced in airplane building and engine modification. Ian Baker has previous
experience developing racing aircraft in the USA.
- The project has involved modification of the aircraft to lighten, streamline and re-
inforce the structure using composites and carbon fibre and to modify the already
impressive horizontally opposed 6
cylinder engine.
